What's with the name?
Epignosis (ep-ig'-no-sis) is one of two Greek words for knowledge -- Gnosis and Epignosis. The Greeks used it to differeniate between a basic knowledge of something and a more intimate or exact knowledge. For instance, you may think that you know (gnosis) a place called London. But someone who has lived there really knows (epignosis) London. They have smelled the smells, experienced the culture, the people.
